Our latest short film, A Cheaper Way to Go had a fantastic screening at the fest. While there we also shot a video blog for The Documentary Channel that'll be available at their website as soon as we can get it editied. We also met up with Jay Edwards the producer and editor of Aqua teen Hunger Force. He took a few minutes to discuss all the Aqua Teen happenings as well as what's up with his solo project, Stomp! Shout! Scream! a feature film of the late 60's B movie variety that's hilarious. Look for the interview to appear at www.mainia.com as soon as I Suzie gets it transcribed for me.

We have some big news on the way about some television prokects we've been working on. That treatment is in the script writing phase as we speak. Also, we are gearing up for a full day of independent filmmaker workshops as part of the Hypericon Sci-Fi Convention on June 24rd, 24th, and 25th. We have indie filmmakers coming from Kentucky, Alabama, and Georgia to be on panels and participate in workshops for the three day weekend. We have a final cut that runs 13 minutes 46 seconds. We haven't added music, done color correction, or tweaked the audio yet but the film is fully assembled. We're hoping to dub off a screener for the musicians to preview to help inspire them for the bed music that we hope to record over the next couple of weeks. If everything continues moving along as it has been we should complete the movie within a month or so. We'll try and get some images up for you to see shortly....

Cheaper Way to Go Still Going....

Well our work on our latest film "A Cheaper Way to Go" is still moving forward. Shooting is finished and post production is moving forward. The initial plan was for the film to be 10 minutes long. It looks like now it may be slightly longer, maybe in the 15 minute neighborhood. Music for the film is also progressing with a theme song and some bed music written and in the rehearsal stage by the band. Hopefully we'll get at least the theme song recorded within the next three weeks.

Our previous documentary films have all been shot in standard 4 : 3 aspect ratio. We decided for this film to move to 16 : 9. In the beginning that was a total nightmare for post production. There was a lengthy (at least it seemed lengthy at the time) process to getting the editing hardware and software to properly see the widescreen format. But now that it's all working properly I don't regret the move to widescreen. So far, the film looks great.

New Film From Captain Pixel Productions

Captain Pixel has begun work on a new short film titled "A Cheaper Way to Go". The film is a short documentary about the new wholesale funeral supply business popping up in the Middle Tennessee area. You can step into a store not much different than any other department store and buy a casket or other funeral merchandise for yourself or a loved one up to 60% cheaper than making the same purchase through a regular funeral home. Needless to say this type of business hasn't gone over well with traditional funeral homes, and they have influence on state and even federal government. "A Cheaper Way to Go" however, focuses more on a single store and the man who runs it and the stores impact on the strip mall it is now a part of. We'll have more information soon...
